Aircraft Supply Pricing Model
From 1 January 2026, Swedavia will introduce a new pricing model for aircraft supply (ground power) at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport. The new model is based on a fixed standard per hour, instead of charging based on actual energy consumption.
With the new model, Swedavia will invoice the airlines directly instead of going through the ground handling companies. Invoicing will take place four times per month in connection with the invoicing of other airport charges.
Expanded information on new pricing model aircraft supply
The purpose of the change is to create a fair, clear and uniform pricing model and to streamline management by Swedavia invoicing the airlines directly.
Background
Ground power is used to supply aircraft with electricity when they are parked at gates or on the apron. This reduces the need to use the aircraft's auxiliary power unit (APU) and contributes to reduced emissions, lower noise levels and an improved working environment in the airport area.
At Arlanda, Swedavia has for a long time charged the handling companies for actual electricity consumption, which in turn has re-invoiced the airlines. However, this model has been perceived as complex and sometimes unfair, partly due to variations in metering data and different types of technical solutions for electricity connection. In order to simplify, create transparency and enable an equivalent way of working with Göteborg Landvetter, a fixed price model based on a standard hourly rate is now being introduced.
New pricing model – standard per hour The new model is based on a fixed standard per hour, instead of charging based on actual energy consumption. The standard is calculated based on Swedavia's costs for:
•Electric power
•Electricity network
•Electricity tax
With the new model, Swedavia will invoice the airlines directly instead of going through the handling companies. Invoicing will be done 4 times/month in connection with invoicing of other airport fees.
Certificates
All electrical energy Swedavia sells to our customers at the airports comes from renewable energy sources such as wind and hydropower. This is ensured through guarantees of origin that are managed by the Swedish Energy Agency. The heat that Swedavia sells is produced from biofuels or other renewable sources.
