Operational waste
Swedavia offers recycling solutions where operators can leave sorted business waste.
You can drop off waste:
- In the recycling room in the terminal
- At Airside and Landside recycling stations
At all recycling stations there are containers for:
- Recyclable waste
- Combustible waste
- Non-combustible waste
Hazardous waste
Hazardous waste is waste that can be:
- Toxic
- Carcinogenic
- Corrosive
- Birth defective
- Environmentally hazardous
- Infectious
- Flammable
Examples of hazardous waste:
- Chemical residues
- Paint and solvents
- Appliances
- Printer toner
- Batteries
- Light sources
- Electronics
- Other
Responsibilities and Requirements
Each operator is responsible for ensuring that hazardous waste is handled in accordance with current legislation.
Swedavia offers the opportunity to:
- Leave hazardous waste at the recycling station (Airside)
- Have hazardous waste collected after ordering
Contracts and Reporting
In order to be able to drop off or have hazardous waste collected via Swedavia, it is required that:
- An agreement is signed with Swedavia
In connection with the agreement:
- A power of attorney is signed
- Swedavia reports the waste to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's electronic waste register
- The service is provided at a cost
In the case of large quantities of hazardous waste, Swedavia must be contacted in advance to book an appointment for drop-off.
If there is no agreement, the business itself is responsible for ensuring that the waste is disposed of in accordance with legal requirements.

- Hazardous waste must never be mixed with other types of waste
- Different types of hazardous waste must not be mixed with each other
- Hazardous waste may only be left at the designated place
