SE-Alert – important message directly on your mobile phone

SE-Alert is a warning alarm that can quickly reach many people in a certain area in the event of a serious incident. SE-Alert sends Important Message to the public directly to your mobile. SE-Alert is a complement to the existing system for Important Public Announcements (VMA).

• Information directly on your mobile phone when something serious happens – without an app or registration. The mobile phone needs to be an updated smartphone.
• All smart phones in the affected area are accessible, regardless of who is on the subscription (including children, young elderly and tourists).
• The mobile emits a sharp signal, vibrates and a message appears on the screen. The message can also be sent out as a silent warning, without sound.
• The signal lasts for ten seconds and will sound at the maximum volume of the phone.
• If you receive the message, as with all VMAs, you should read it and follow the instructions.
• If you do not have a smart phone, you can still take part in VMA through, for example, radio, TV, text messages, apps and Hesa Fredrik.

New SE-Alert message is being tested in September and December

On Monday 7 September at 15.00, the Swedish Civil Defence Agency (MCF) will conduct a limited test of SE-Alert for the first time. The test will take place in Stockholm and Gotland counties, but neighbouring counties may also be affected. A national test is planned for December. 

At 15.00, a notification goes out with a sharp signal and a vibration. The signal lasts for ten seconds and will sound at the maximum volume of the mobile. After a while, an All Clear message follows.
