Fire protection policy - purpose and goal
Within the airport's area of operation, fire protection work must be conducted systematically and proactively to achieve a well-balanced and conscious level of protection. Safe evacuation, life and health are always a priority. This policy covers Swedavia's facilities and wholly-owned subsidiaries and applies to everyone who works at the facilities.
According to the Act (SFS 2003:778) on protection against accidents, the owner of a property or the person who conducts business in the property, the holder of the right of use, is responsible for ensuring that fire safety is ensured.
Current legislation for fire protection only specifies the lowest acceptable level of building technical requirements based on personal protection. Swedavia strives for a level that prevents, or effectively limits, direct and indirect damage as a result of fire in order to avoid personal injuries and minimise interruptions.
In the case of new construction, renovation and extension within the facility, a risk analysis must be carried out and documented to determine an optimal level of fire protection.
