What is happening or what needs to be done?
Umeå Airport will carry out work during the period 17/9 to 22/10. The work includes geotechnical investigation, soil sampling, environmental inventory and surveying with the aim of investigating the conditions for a reconstruction and extension of the terminal to meet future needs. Surveying will include a drone from Sweco hovering above terminal buildings and fire garages (001, 008, 012 and 035).
Consequences? Who is particularly affected?
Geotechnical investigation and soil sampling will cause noise and sometimes the need for temporary walkways within passenger areas. Outdoor surveying as well as environmental inventory and surveying indoors may be in the way when you pass. Temporary walkways will be arranged so that the airport will be as safe as usual for both passengers and airport staff. Sampling and minor work will also take place in offices and on the roof of the terminal building (001), in the ramp service building (008) but are not considered to affect passengers.
Drones from Sweco can potentially be distracting and take focus away from ongoing work. Drone flying will be planned to minimize the impact on regular operations.
Which area of the airport is affected?
Geotechnical investigation and soil sampling take place in green-marked areas.
Surveying takes place within a red-marked area.
Environmental inventory and surveying also take place on the inside of the terminal building.
Sampling and minor work will take place on the roof of the terminal building, in offices (001) and in the ramp service building (008).
