What is happening or what needs to be done?
Swedavia would like to draw everyone’s attention to the requirement in AR, Part 3 Climate and Environment, Chapter 4 Waste, Section 4.2 General, which states:
“Transparent plastic bags must be used for waste when it is necessary to use plastic bags, in order to enable identification of the type of waste.”
This means the following:
- Operators at the airport must, due to this requirement, phase out all other types of bags and going forward only use transparent plastic bags.
- Food waste and compost must continue to be disposed of in paper bags.
We would also like to remind you to review waste management procedures during the onboarding of new employees and seasonal staff, to ensure they are aware of how waste management works at the airport.
If you would like support with this, please feel free to contact us at Swedavia. We can visit and provide information and assistance.
If there is a need to dispose of larger quantities of waste, for example during storage clear-outs, cleaning, or similar activities, please contact Swedavia well in advance for planning and assistance with sorting.
